HubShout Updates: Secure Dashboard

Last month, we wrote a blog post walking through our process of changing our dashboard hosting, from the wonderful Frontier Cyber Center here in Rochester, NY to Amazon Web Services (AWS).

In 2018, we started learning and testing the AWS system, and had success, so we’ve made the transition as of April 20, 2019.

With that transition, comes a new beta product, that some of our partners have been asking for recently: a secure private label portal.

Amazon offers free SSL Certificates, that we can implement for our reseller partners, and we are waiving the $90 setup fee for resellers who are invoicing above $2000 a month with HubShout.

The new secure portal comes with a new power. Now you can move your clients to a secure website and bring the contact form information directly into the marketing dashboard software, without the use of any third party tools or work arounds.

To initiate the process, our developer will request the SSL Certificate directly from Amazon AWS. The reseller will be responsible for following the verification process. Amazon provides two options for verification:

  • Sending an email to the on file owner with the domain
  • Creating a CNAME in your DNS settings (this is a very similar process to setting up your HubShout CNAME, and is the simpler option)

We are only supporting the DNS validation method currently since it is more reliable, traceable and gives us a consistent process. It also vastly simplifies the renewal process so that forms don’t break at certificate renewal time (1 year).

We believe that we are in the relationship business and want to help you maintain your client relationships, because you’re part of our team.
