Social Media Statistics from 2012

    One of the account managers asked me for some social media info he could use for training. I came across this on the interwebs and thought I'd share, since I know many of you are always looking for stats to share with your resellers and clients.

    It's from the Huffington Post, which I don't usually source for industry information. But it was put together by a digital marketing exec who writes for some biggies and is a collection of social media stats from various sources. It's quite handy if you need some snippets:

    Wow. Good find! This Google+ stat is especially interesting:. "Google+ pages appear in search results for 30 percent of brand term searches for brands with G+ pages, up from 5 percent in February 2012." I would say that means we should all be spending more time building up our Google+ business page profile.

    Mention this stat in your pitch "80 percent of social media users prefer to connect with brands through Facebook." Annnnd, this is why you hire a social media analyst, "56 percent of customer tweets to companies are being ignored."

    That is craziness. Regular engagement is required but who has the time? I wonder how many businesses that reply to tweets have hired someone to do it for them because they know it's important to communicate with people who contact them via social media.

    Socialnomics is a great read. It has a lot of those types of statistics.
