HubShout SEM System Help

Site Authority concern

  • Matt Reply

One of my resellres was concerned about which is most important...domain authority or relevancy.

    I let them know that

    1) Hubshout is engaged in relevant content creation with links to those newer sites in the network to build authority. My reseller is concerned that the lack of domain authority will negatively impact their SEO results in the near to intermediate term.

    2) I let them know that many of the old article sites are devalued (the and type sites)

Right Matt. This is a very hard corner for older SEOs to turn. If you have been obsessed with link juice, inbound root links and domain authority for years, it is hard to re-focus on relevance. I'm not saying domain authority is not important, all things being equal, but in the last year we've seen just how important relevance and end-user usefulness has become (Panda / Penguin). As a result, I am more willing than ever to forego Domain Authority to get an earned link from a relevant website.

Thanks for posting this client concern in the forum Matt. Adam and Chad recorded a very helpful video on link-building.

I've been looking up things about older SEOs, as well as the impact that Google's Panda and Penguin have. Wow! I wish I had been in the game three or four years ago, so I could have a better understanding of how hard a habit that must have been to break.
