Is anyone familiar with Google Shopping? I had someone ask me how this new service would affect ours? I've done some slight reading on it, but wondering what others had to say about it.

This is nothing really new. It does add another layer to the results. Here is a great description of Google Shopping.

Wasn't this called Froogle once upon a time?

It looks like Google launched Froogle back in December of 2002 and then dropped it four years later.

Did they entirely drop it? Or was it re-branded? I thought it just "turned into something else."

looks to me like they just re branded it, it's basically the same service as Froogle, isn't it?

oh they just dropped the name Froogle! Sorry for the confusion, it was renamed Google Product Search and then Google Shopping. They moved from a free listing to an all pay model to better the user experience.

That's what I thought... So confusing those Google people! ;-)

I was reading an article on SEW that gives a few reason why the new Google Shopping is going to be bad for eCommerce merchants. I found it quite interesting and feel that you all would too!
