Facebook’s New Ads Automatically Show A Business’ Products That You’ll Want Most

  • Angelina Marie Reply

You’ve probably seen plenty of products advertised on Facebook, but today the company is announcing a new unit called product ads, with features aimed specifically at helping businesses sell their products.

The big difference is that the ads are dynamically optimized, meaning that the products you see will be tailored based on your activity and interests.

They haven't already been doing this?

I think the difference is that Google picked what showed up before, and now it will be Facebook data contributing to the decision?

Not a huge fan of this, to be honest. It makes me more inclined to not post ANY type of info about myself on facebook, lest they try and sell me something. To me, Facebook just isnt the right place for that. At least that's how I use facebook.

I agree. I particularly hate the ads for stuff I recently purchased - I already have that stuff!

I feel like this is very similar to what they are already doing. I'm already not really into Facebook anymore and this makes me want to use it even less.

the retargeting on my FB account has been intense lately. I'll visit an artist's webpage and suddenly their art on tshirts and hats and everything is a third of all the ads I see.

I've noticed that too. I only wish there was a way that they could figure out to filter it so that it doesn't continuously show you ads of things you've already purchased.

They're doing some really interesting things and trying to do what google does but within Facebook. Pretty neat.

If it was in you face any more there would be a flashing sign that says buy me now, you know you want to buy me. I agree that these ads are a turn off to be all over facebook but the concept of them is good and it looks like they're helping business so that's good as well.
