I just read an article about the evolution of SEO, which has led us to building those tactics around creating and promoting/marketing solid, quality content.

One of Chad and Adam's recent video tutorials, Competitive Keyword Analysis and Onsite SEO, covered this topic too. Our focus for the month will be on that, as well. So I thought this article was a great addition:

No rest for the wicked, Great album BTW! LOL

Without quality content, there is no point to proceeding. Web surfers that find something will lose interest quickly. The right content should ideally have the perfect mix of keywords and a conversational tone.

I've always thought it's funny how much emphasis people put on buying links and getting links for the sake of getting links. People use search engines to find answers to questions, and search engines want to give the most relevant answers (because it keeps people coming back to them). So... hasn't it always made sense to release quality content? Like Jesse said, it needs the perfect mix of keywords and conversational tone, but it also needs to answer the question which the user is searching for.

I wish I could remember the name of the security company that released this study (because then I'd link it), but I read that backlinks from Russian providers are only $6 per 100,000. You can also get DDoS attacks on competitors for $100-200 per day. For some reason, this reminded me of that study.

I like the content plan example they showed in the article, it's really simple and well organized.

Couldn't agree with this more.

I almost immediately lose interest in whatever I'm reading online (be it an article, blog, etc.) if the content sounds forced, contrived, or gimmicky. Quality content sells itself, without needing to push you into buying something.

Tell me about it Brian. One of the problems I've had with onsite content is making it not sound forced. With a lot of keywords being shoehorned in there, it can be very difficult to get a natural flow. It's something I'm always working on, and after being hear nearly a year now, I find myself looking at other websites and just saying "Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!" lol

Content does seem to be the push. Maybe we will see less spam on the internet just like when the internet was cleansed of popup ads.
