Dashboard Footer
Hi guys,
This is a small request but do you think we could add the reseller name and the current year to the Footnote in the Dashboard?
So, instead of
"Copyright 2011. This information is private and confidential.”
we could have something like:
"Copyright 2012 - RESELLER'S NAME. This information is private and confidential.”
This is a small change but could make a difference. What do you guys think?
Hi there..... Interesting request. We will need to discuss internally with our legal team because you don't, technically, hold the copyright to the system. As you know, you have full legal protection for confidentiality of your client information and data based on the MSA we have mutually executed. But that's different from an actual copyright of the system screens (i.e., source code, etc)... Good one! :-) :-) :-)
Seems like a reasonable request. I would appreciate it too.
The "Copyright Year" in the footer of the dashboard still states 2011
Here's a link to some code I found, you guys can add to keep the "Copyright Year" current. Just set it and forget it. ;)

As far as stating that the Dashboard is under our company copyright. Whatever you decide is fine with me.
I don't think it hurts or hinders the user experience, however the current date could easily be fixed.

It's rare that a feature request is THAT easy :-) Don't get used to it....
But seriously, that one was 30 seconds. The code now puts the current year - so it will update automatically for 2013...
This was tested in DEV, and looks fine. But our next code drop (i.e., release) is either Friday or Monday depending on the QA going on right now for the new SALES PHONE CALL DISPOSITION release. Expect to see it with that code drop.

Adam, I would like to revisit this thread if possible. I see the value in changing the footer to include the re-sellers name and even contact information. As a re-seller, and i'm sure i speak for most others, the last thing i want is for a client of mine to find out what private label tools i'm using.
Obviously i know the content displayed on the page has to be generic to some extent but if a client / user decided to play detective all they have to do it copy that footer content and search in google. hubshout comes up #1. Being a new re-seller i was a bit surprised that a client i gave demo access to today found out on their own.
I like the idea of adding your information to the footer, but only because I think it helps the client find the software to be more usable...
The idea that HubShout somehow needs to be top-secret is something I've never understood. I guess it's because throughout my 15 years in IT, I have always been part of an outsourcing relationship, even back in my Verizon days.... Also, in software, very few people built things in-house anymore due to ease and cost of using cloud-based solutions....
